All Grown Up by Vi Keeland5/11/2023 I knew it couldn't last, but I was curious about him. But after weeks of wearing me down, I finally agreed to one date only-my first after twenty years of being with my high school sweetheart. He made me laugh yet I was adamant that because of his age, we could only be friends. Nevertheless, that's how I met Ford, and we started messaging. Another point that bears repeating-it wasn't supposed to. Those nicknamed Cunnilingus King were told they'd go straight to the top for consideration. So, without my knowledge, she set up a profile for me on a popular dating site-one that invited men ages twenty-one to twenty-seven to apply for a date. My best friend decided I needed to start dating again. Did I mention young? If I did, it bears repeating. When I first encountered Ford Donovan, I had no idea who he was.well, other than the obvious. Perhaps most noteworthy is Tatar's decision to include tales excised from later editions, including a number of "adult" stories that were removed once the Grimms realized that parents were reading the stories to children. Readers young and old will encounter popular classics, including "Little Red Riding Hood," "Cinderella," "Snow White," and "Rapunzel," while discovering some of the lesser known yet equally captivating stories such as "Four Artful Brothers," "The Water of Life," and "The White Snake," all new to this edition. Drawing from the final authoritative version in the mid-nineteenth century, Tatar, an internationally recognized scholar in the field of folklore and children's literature, has translated and provided commentary for more than fifty Grimm stories, judiciously selecting tales that resonate with modern audiences and reveal the broad thematic range of the Grimm canon. Here, in this bicentennial edition of The Annotated Brothers Grimm, Maria Tatar presents these timeless stories in a sumptuous and visually powerful format that helps reshape our understanding of the Brothers Grimm. Endlessly recast and reimagined in poetry and prose, on the screen and onstage, these stories are forever etched in our imagination. Of all of the rich fairy-tale collections that exist in countries throughout the world, few are better known than those gathered almost two centuries ago by a pair of German brothers-Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm-in their Children's Stories and Household Tales, first published in 1812. Josh malerman inspection5/11/2023 Everything is designed not to reveal the secret hey have a writer on hand that will right morals of right and wrong never mentioning a place or gender. He along with 26 other boys are apart of it, A and Z have been taken out of the experiment. The Plot: J is a boy that grew up in an experiment to find genius without distraction of the opposite sex or religion. This book is hard to classify it had science fiction elements as well as horror elements. I fell the plot is brilliant but the execution was lacking, there where a couple moments I was just bored and frustrated at the material. The story does repeat itself a little two often. We get J first who is the least interesting of the two then the characters meet and we follow K until the meeting. We get two perspectives J a boy and K a girl. The climax is big and went a lot further ten I thought the story was going. I actually think this story is ruined by it’s own book cover synopsis, since t cover 75% of the story, I was waiting for a twist and a greater meaning then the one we got. This story is best if you know as little as possible going in. This is my third Josh Malerman book and man are his stories out there. Inspection by Josh Malerman is an interesting look at genius and distractions of the opposite sex. Darfur by Gérard Prunier5/10/2023 It is the only book that deals in detail with the people’s revolution in 2019, led largely by women, that ousted the Islamist regime of Omar al-Bashir and led to the transitional government, which itself was overthrown. “Sudan’s Unfinished Democracy” is the best of them. Recent texts on Sudan, therefore, are relatively rare. Since South Sudan won independence from Sudan in 2011 the former has claimed more attention, as it plunged quickly into its very own civil war. By Willow Berridge, Justin Lynch, Raga Makawi and Alex de Waal. These seven books explain how and why Sudan went so horribly wrong. Blessed with ample natural resources, notably oil and gold, rich agricultural lands, a sophisticated education system (largely inherited from the British) and a robust civil society, Sudan has nonetheless been plagued by genocide, famine and poverty. The latest was the overthrow in October 2021 of a transitional civilian-led government by a military junta led by General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan. Since independence in 1956 the country has endured six coups and about ten failed attempts, by some measures the worst record in Africa.
